Bringing Your Rolling Meadows Bathroom Up To Modern Standards

Bathrooms have evolved over the past century from primarily functional spaces to spaces that contribute significantly to the comfort and enjoyment of your home. Innovations in the design and function of plumbing hardware and fixtures provide an endless array of experience-enhancing choices for a new bathroom remodel. An explosion of design possibilities in the world of tile, cabinetry, and countertop materials provide infinite ways to make the simplest bathroom layout a thing of beauty. Our bathroom remodeling service will help you achieve that.
The trends in other areas of the home toward more open and interconnected interior layouts are reflected in primary baths. Today the master suite will flow into the primary bath as well as connecting to dressing and closet spaces. Spa-like amenities, including rain showers, soaking tubs, steam showers, and more, create the opportunity for a luxurious experience any time you need it. Designers Point has made a specialty out of transforming stale, outdated bathrooms into places you want to linger and relax in. Instead of a space devoted to basic hygiene, the bathroom becomes a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. Designers Point’s bathroom remodeling service is all about bringing your bathroom up to modern standards.

Full-Service Bathroom Remodeling Company

All bathroom remodeling projects require the services of many different skilled trades. Designers Point will manage and coordinate the electricians, plumbers, tile setters, framing and structural specialists, and any other trades needed to complete your bathroom remodeling project. We have decades of experience with the contractors we use. We respect their knowledge and skill and they share our dedication to designing beautiful bathrooms for our clients.
In addition to the efficient coordination of the efforts of our contractors, we pay close attention to the planning of the electrical scheme of the bathroom. Lighting is crucial. Providing properly located vanity light fixtures is essential. Lighting experts advise that lights should be placed on either side of a vanity mirror at approximately eye level. This avoids shadows cast by poorly placed fixtures which can make shaving and applying makeup more difficult. The proper placement of switches and outlets enhances convenience. The use of dimmers can allow varying light levels to create the mood you want.

Designers Point will take care of any structural changes that may be required for your bathroom remodel. We will ensure that proper ventilation is part of the plan. We will take over the burden of the building permit process on your behalf. We have experience working with building departments and inspectors in many municipalities and have developed good working relationships with them. We take responsibility for all tasks associated with your bathroom remodeling project, to take the load off your shoulders.
Custom Bathroom Remodeling To Fit Your Needs
“I’m five feet tall and my husband is six feet four. How can we have a shower that works for both of us?” In your new shower, the showerhead will be on a slide bar and easily changed to work for either of you. “I can’t stand the cold tile floor under my feet first thing in the morning”. In your new bathroom, we will install electrical heat mats which you will schedule to turn on before you rise in the morning. “I frequently suffer from upper respiratory congestion, and would love a way to ease my breathing”. A steam shower is incredibly therapeutic and can greatly alleviate your problem. With our bathroom remodeling service, we address all your everyday problems and provide the best possible solutions for them.

Designers Point’s bathroom planning process involves understanding the personal needs and preferences of our clients. We want your bathroom to work perfectly for you and we design it to do just that. Today more people use a shower for bathing than a bathtub. That shower will be built to your specifications including places for bath articles, handheld showers that allow you to easily rinse all over, a bench to sit on, or a host of other amenities that provide convenience and make your experience more pleasant. Our bathroom designs specifically address your personal requirements at Designers Point.
Our Bathroom Remodeling Process
At Designers Point two things are absolutely critical to our bathroom design process: Listening and collaboration. Our goal is to learn about you and work with you to meet or exceed all your expectations in your bath remodeling project. When you make an appointment for an initial consultation, we ask that you take pictures of your existing bathroom and email them to us.
Here’s how we ensure your bathroom remodel runs smoothly from start to finish:
The Initial Consultation
When we first meet with you in our showroom, we start by reviewing the photographs of your current bathroom and discussing what you like and dislike about it. This review gives us a solid start on laying out the scope of your bathroom remodeling project and gives us insight into approaching different design options. To help us do that together, we will use our large library of photographs of our past projects, selecting those with similar situations. We consider product options, in terms of both appearance and function, to meet your design objectives and to fine tune your preferences.
Often, we ask colleagues to sit in and share their experiences and opinions. This collaboration with you and our staff is a powerful tool leading us to establish a bathroom design direction to guide us to an overall plan for your project.
Typically, by the end of this conversation, we are both ready to take the next step in your bathroom remodeling journey, which is a visit to your home. At that time, we schedule a meeting in your home.
In-Home Discovery
With the background of our initial consultation, we come to the first in-home meeting to validate the ideas discussed in our showroom and assess how the proposed changes will integrate into the rest of your home. Usually, there will be three of us, two Designers and our Project Manager. We take pictures and precise measurements. We investigate existing electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems and consider the alterations that will need to happen to implement the bathroom remodeling plan. We also consider any structural changes that may be required.
This first site visit may also reveal possibilities to us of changes in the remodeling plan we hadn’t previously considered. We discuss those possibilities and any other ideas which may come up. In some instances, we may set up a time to come back with a specialist (plumber, electrician, structural engineer) to further investigate conditions and possibilities. Our in-home discovery is designed to be thorough and provide all we need to take the next step, creating a design and budget.
Preliminary Design and Budget
At Designers Point our bathroom design work is accomplished using computer design software. We create virtual walls, windows, and doors laid out as we measured them in your home to create an “as-built” drawing. This becomes the template and background for the entire bathroom design. Then, as we design the space, we lay in cabinets, countertops, lighting, tile, plumbing fixtures, and everything else, which will be part of what we will build in your home. This process sounds easy, and sometimes it is, but most often we use this period to explore different design options, most of which we discard for reasons both practical and esthetic. Our goal is to find and develop the one optimal solution which we feel will best serve your interests.
While our Designer is working on the creation of your plan, our Project Manager is developing the Scope of Labor for your bathroom remodeling project. Working with the preliminary design from the Designer, he enumerates all the labor tasks needed for the project. He covers everything from demolition to completion and sits down with our contractor to establish a preliminary labor budget.
We simultaneously create a spreadsheet budget that contains all of those items we are placing in the computer design. That budget is divided into products and labor. At this point, we will know what all the products are, though not what specific products you will select. For instance, if you have a two-bowl vanity, we know you will need two sinks and two faucets. Until you make actual selections, we will not know exactly what they will cost.
Our solution to this is to use costs that reflect our experience in what our clients have purchased from us in the past. We will not enter the lowest cost items nor the highest cost items in these categories, but will plug in what we feel is an average. We have determined that it helps no one if we lowball any pricing if it only leads to disappointment later. We then plug the labor numbers into the spreadsheet budget. With this step, we are ready for you to come in and review our preliminary design and budget for your bathroom remodeling project.
Design Review and Product Selection
Two to three weeks after our in-home discovery meeting, we will have you join us in our showroom to review the preliminary bathroom design. For this meeting, we will assemble actual samples of countertop materials, tile choices, and cabinet doors. We will also include finish samples and other materials we are suggesting for your remodeling project. In addition, we will also present a complete budget including preliminary labor estimates. The budget, at this point, is based on assumptions of selections you have yet to decide on. Our experience has been that our final contract budget is usually within 10% of these preliminary numbers.
With our computer design program, we will show you virtual three-dimensional views of your finished bathroom remodel. This makes discussion of the details of our projects very real for our clients and serves to facilitate the many decisions you will be presented with. While the process has many moving parts, we have found that it is helpful to start with a single item, say cabinet color, or countertop choice. Then, we can build a suite of selections around that choice. The result will be a beautifully coordinated suite of materials that will make you happy to be in the finished bathroom.
This phase of our process involves more than a single meeting. This first design review meeting is followed up by visits we make with you to our tile, plumbing, and countertop material vendors. We want to expose you to all the best options to make your bathroom one you will love. As with the earlier steps in this journey, we encourage collaboration with our staff and others to help achieve an optimal result.
Finalization and Contract Signing
With your review and approval of the refined design for your bathroom remodel, and your selection of all the materials, we revisit your home with our contractor for a final bid meeting. During this visit, we review the complete scope of your bathroom remodeling project with you. We take this opportunity to make any last adjustments needed before moving forward.
Having reviewed all aspects of your bathroom remodeling project with you and our contractors, we prepare a final project budget and a detailed contract. The final contract budget lists all materials we will be purchasing for the remodel. It will describe all categories of installation labor including the cost by category, and all taxes, freight, and delivery costs.
Unlike many other bathroom remodeling companies, we do not require full payment upfront. Our contract payments are structured in amounts that follow the progress of the project. The contract specifies the payment schedule and the amount for each installment. This installment-based payment plan allows us to make timely payments to our vendors and sub-contractors. It also helps us manage cash flows relating to the remodel. Moreover, It gives our clients the assurance that they remain in control of the financial aspects of their bathroom remodel.
Upon signing the contract, we accept the first installment payment. With this phase complete, we put your project on our installation schedule and begin the ordering of all materials required for your new bathroom.
Installation
When all materials have been received, we begin construction. Although every project is different, bathroom remodels follow a typical schedule. This includes demolition, rough framing, electric and plumbing work, followed by drywall, flooring, and all the finishing tasks. Our experienced contractors ensure that each aspect of your bathroom remodeling project is executed in accordance with the final bathroom design approved by you. To ensure that we remain on schedule, our practice is to have our contractors work continuously, without breaks, on your project from start to finish.
Throughout the construction process, our project manager visits the job site frequently. He works closely with our contractor, checks progress on a daily basis, answers questions that arise, and resolves issues. He will also keep you in the loop on everything going on. This proactive approach ensures that your bathroom remodel stays on schedule and meets our high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Completion and Warranty
After the construction phase is complete, we want you to enjoy your newly remodeled bathroom with peace of mind. Designers Point offers a one-year warranty on all labor and upholds the manufacturer’s warranty on all materials. However, our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction extends far beyond these formal guarantees.
In practice, we stand behind our work and address issues, even years after the project is completed. If you experience any problems with any of the installations, we encourage you to contact us directly. We believe in being the first point of contact for any concerns that arise with the projects that we do. We will always remain dedicated to resolving issues promptly and effectively.
We take pride in our work and strive to provide a clear, transparent bathroom remodeling process that leaves you in full control. This allows you to focus on enjoying your beautiful newly remodeled bath.
We would like to emphasize that our initial consultation and home visit are completely free of charge. We’ll develop a bathroom design, budget, and full plan before asking for any financial contribution. You will know all the details of the project before we ask you to sign a contract or make any payments. This approach ensures you are fully informed and confident in moving forward with us.
